With little more than three years until the 2014 Fifa World Cup kicks off in Brazil, preparations for the tournament are expected to gather pace over the course of the next year. The region-specific draw for qualifying is scheduled to take place in Rio de Janeiro in July and before the all important draw takes places a series of seminars and workshops will be held with the express purpose of outlining what the world can expect from Brazil over the next three years.
Also scheduled for 2011 is the unveiling of the official 2014 Brazil World Cup slogan and in June work on three of the venues that will stage 2014 finals matches will begin.
Finally, the venues for the 2013 Confederations Cup will be named and the match calendar for the 2014 World Cup will be announced.
With concerns being raised about Brazil's ability to host the 2014 finals, 2011 has all the hallmarks of a make-or-break year for the five-time world champions.
