Seperti yang telah diperkirakan, Indonesia mau tidak mau bakal tergabung di grup yang sulit di babak ketiga pra Piala Dunia 2014 Brasil. Dan hal itu pun menjadi kenyataan.

Hasil undian putaran ketiga zona Asia yang diselenggarakan di Rio de Janiero, Sabtu (30/7) waktu setempat, mempersatukan tim Garuda dengan tiga negara superior dari Asia Barat di Grup E: Iran, Qatar dan Bahrain.
Para calon lawan Indonesia ini bukanlah tim yang tergolong enteng. Trek rekor tiga negara tersebut di kancah internasional sangat mentereng. Iran dalam peringkat dunia menempati posisi ke-54, Qatar adalah perempat-finalis Piala Asia 2011 lalu, sementara Bahrain pernah membuat gebrakan dengan hampir menjamah Piala Dunia 2006 silam.
Di grup lain, drawing menghasilkan pertarungan yang tak kalah menarik. Di Grup C, Jepang mendapat lawan yang relatif mudah, Suriah dan Uzbekistan. Mungkin hanya Korea Utara yang patut diperhitungkan.
Negara dari Asia Tenggara lainnya yang juga mendapat undian dengan lawan berat yaitu Thailand di Grup D. Mereka bakal bertarung satu sama lain dengan raksasa seperti Australia, Arab Saudi dan Oman. Singapura juga harus melewati hadangan besar dari Cina di Grup A, bersama dengan Yordania dan Irak.
Juara dan runner-up dari lima grup di putaran ketiga ini berhak melaju ke putaran keempat, dan di ronde tersebut akan terbagi dalam dua grup yang masing-masing berisikan 10 tim.
Dua negara yang menempati posisi teratas di kualifikasi keempat dipastikan lolos ke putaran final ke Brasil. Dan tim yang berada di urutan ketiga mendapat jatah untuk saling bunuh di babak play-off. Pemenangnya bakal diadu dengan rangking kelima zona Amerika Latin untuk berebut tempat di putaran final Brasil.

The history of women's football
Soccer Extreme : Sixty-one years after fast-footed men got the chance show off their skills to a worldwide audience, women entered the field for their first World CupGames. Now, 20 years later, they will play in their sixth championship, a long-awaited opportunity after what has been a long journey to get off the sideline.
Historians will argue over when women’s football really began. Some will point to art from the Han Dynasty in 200 CE, which depicts two women kicking a ball. During the Middle Ages, there are stories of French women playing side by side with their husbands and a female annual football-like competition in Scotland.
What we do know is women have been playing the sport for more than a century. In 1881, there was a ‘Ladies’ Football tournament’ between England and Scotland. The Scottish Football Association’s first official recorded women’s football game took place in 1892 and the English Football Association dates its first women’s game to 1895. During this time, teams like the Cumbrian Munitionettes of England (comprised of female munition workers) formed and fans started packing the stands.

The ban, however, didn’t volley these women off the field. That same year, they formed the English Ladies’ Football Association and played their first competition in 1922. It took several decades though for the female football competitions to officially go international and in 1982 the first European Competition For Representative Women's Teams (UEFA) was launched.
Professional womens’ football is making waves worldwide, with national teams in 49 countries of various sizes and locations íncluding Germany, United States, Argentina, Iran, Morocco, Myanmar, Iceland, Faroe Islands and Estonia. While some national teams find more skepticism from their male counterparts than others, women continue to fight for the right to professionally play the world’s most enthusiastically supported sport.
And, they are succeeding. Women finally got their own FIFA World Cup in 1991. The first games were held in the People’s Republic of China, where the U.S.A. placed first. During the 1999 Womens’ World Cup in Los Angeles, more than 90,000 fans showed up – a world record for a womens’ sporting event.

TOKYO, March 8 (Xinhua) -- Asian champions Japan are No. 1 in the rankings for the region's 2014 World Cup qualifiers first-round draw taking place on March 30, the Asian Football Confederation announced on its official website Tuesday.
The rankings are based on the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa as well as the Asian qualifying rounds for the main tournament. The final number of entries will be confirmed later by world soccer's governing body FIFA, the AFC said.
Japan, who reached the second round of the World Cup for the first time on foreign soil last summer, were followed in second place by South Korea, who also made the knockout phase in South Africa.
Australia and DPR Korea, the two other Asian teams which played in the 2010 World Cup, and Bahrain round off the top five.

Kuala Lumpur: The prevention and management of cardiac emergencies on the football field and stadium will be the topic of one of the main lectures at the 4th AFC Conference 2011 on Science and Football Medicine.
The lecture will be delivered by Prof. Efraim Kramer of South Africa, a FIFA Football Medicine Instructor and Head of the Division of Emergency Medicine at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg.
The conference will be held here in the Malaysian capital on March 18-20, 2011.
According to the synopsis of his presentation, the scene of a young and fit player who suddenly collapses and dies on the field during a match is a tragic event frequently screened and publicised worldwide and a broad spectrum of cardiac and non-cardiac causes has been implicated.
Therefore, regular pre-competition medical assessments (PCMA) for players are recommended as a preventive measure while immediate cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and early defibrillation are the recommended treatments for sudden cardiac arrests.
High success rates can be achieved if these are initiated promptly, preferably within seconds of the cardiac arrest and trained medical responders must be allowed to respond to the emergency.
Cardiac arrests among spectators will also be covered during the lecture, the synopsis says.
More than 400 most respected and powerful member delegates are expected to meet at the conference that will feature 12 world-renowned figures and other experts in sports medicine and health sciences.

The recently concluded 2010 FIFA world cup held in the African country South Africa has just arrived and gone, and everyone's has already got their eyes fixated on the host of the next world cup to be held in Brazil. All of the satellites are now redirected towards the South American continent where the action is going to be taking place. Every football loving person hopes and expects the Samba Brazilians to put up a better performance than the South Africans.
Owing to the very fact that, the Brazil is the home of football, the expectations are on a continuous rise. Having being the winner of the football world cup more than any of the other countries and being the one single nation to have the pride to have participated in all of the editions, the whole world does certainly expects to notice something out of the box coming in the year 2014. In addition, they have also won the Under-17 cup; they have grabbed the U-20 and they are also the winner of the CONCACAF nations' cup for a good number of times.
To your general knowledge, the ever so popular Maracana stadium is certainly going to be a football fan's dream place to watch the biggest event on earth. South Africa has already surprised the entire world by a supreme organization of the hitch-free tournament; they offered true world class amenities that includes the 8 quality stadiums, standard roads, top quality telecommunication services, pleasure of staying at the 5 star hotels, great tourist spots, sufficient security, etc hence setting up the pace which would be really a tough call for the immediate host to match.
They offered something which was totally unique in nature and maintained the African flavor all the way through and of all the beauties the Jabulani ball was at the same time problematic and reason to have fun. Now, the question arises what are we supposed to expect in Brazil? Are they going to offer us something which would turn make the Samba dance into a thing to commemorate al the way through? What sort of football are we looking forward to see there? It's pretty certain that FIFA clearly knows that the notion of the Jabulani ball did not function as expected - not a lot of goals were being scored; in spite, it led to majority of our favorite stars failing to perform at the world stage and thence not scoring goals. It has made the likes of stars like Lionel Messi, English star Wayne Rooney, Spanish great Fernando Torres, the likes of etc. not able to even score one single goal, owing to it's of its slippery nature and the property of not having directions.
It's certainly hoped that the FIFA World Cup 2014 host would be able to offer us with sufficient security to the players, the officials and last but certainly not the least the fans. They assured at South Africa that Brazilians have already started preparing for 2014 big phenomenon. Let's thence hope that we will have better stadiums, quality roads, good communication and quality accommodation. Then again, Brazil can't afford to perform the way they did it on the ground, and it's a no secret that the world expects a great deal out of her.

Johannesburg - Menjelang berakhirnya perhelatan turnamen Piala Dunia Afrika Selatan 2010, FIFA meluncurkan logo Piala Dunia berikutnya yang akan digelar di Brasil empat tahun mendatang.
Logo tersebut bergambar tangan yang saling berkaitan membentuk trofi Piala Dunia. Warna hijau mendominasi, dihiasi kuning, sebagaimana dua warna itu adalah identitas Brasil.
Dalam acara peluncuran di Johannesburg, Kamis (8/7/2010) malam waktu setempat, Presiden FIFA Sepp Blatter berujar bahwa logo tersebut mencerminkan sepakbola sebagai bagian dari kehidupan manusia, terutama di negara-negara Amerika Selatan seperti Brasil.
"Saya sangat suka logonya karena ada tiga tangan bergandengan. Ini mencerminkan kehidupan manusia dalam sepakbola," ujar Blatter seperti dikutip oleh Football Insider.
"Piala Dunia 2014 akan penuh dengan kesenangan dan kegembiraan. Sepakbola telah menjadi agama di Brasil. Ini saatnya sepakbola kembali CONMEBOL (Amerika Selatan)," imbuhnya.
Brasil sebagai juara dunia lima kali tidak pernah lagi menjadi tuan rumah sejak 1950. Negara Amerika Selatan terakhir yang menjadi tuan rumah adalah Argentina di tahun 1978.
"Ini tentang kemanusiaan karena sepakbola lebih dari sekadar menendang bola atau pertandingan," tambah Blatter.
Acara peluncuran logo juga dihadiri antara lain Presiden Brasil Luiz Inacio 'Lula' da Silva, mantan bintang Tim Samba seperti Cafu, pelatih Carlos Alberto Pereira, serta pejabat dan figur sepakbola penting seperti Michel Platini dan Franz Beckenbauer.

The 2014 FIFA World Cup will be the 20th World Cup, an international football tournament that is expected to take place between June and July 2014 in Brazil.
This will be the second time the country has hosted the competition, the first being the 1950 FIFA World Cup. Brazil will become the fifth country to have hosted the FIFA World Cup twice, after Mexico, Italy, France and Germany. It will be the first World Cup to have been held in the American continent since the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the United States, the first time in South America since the 1978 FIFA World Cup in Argentina, and the first time consecutive World Cups have been staged in the Southern Hemisphere. Brazil will also become the first nation to break the well-established tradition of allowing a European nation to host the World Cup Finals every eight years.

On 7 March 2003, FIFA announced that the tournament would be held in South America for the first time since Argentina hosted the competition in 1978, in line with its policy of rotating the right to host the World Cup amongst different confederations. On 3 June 2003, CONMEBOL announced that Argentina, Brazil, and Colombia wanted to host the 2014 World Cup finals.[1] By 17 March 2004, the CONMEBOL associations had voted unanimously to adopt Brazil as their sole candidate.[2] Brazil formally declared its candidacy in December 2006 and Colombia did so as well a few days later. The Argentina bid never materialized. On 11 April 2007, Colombia officially withdrew its bid, Francisco Santos Calderón the vice president of Colombia announced that instead Colombia would be hosting the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup. With this Brazil was the only official candidate to host the event in 2014.[3]
