dibawah beberapa rapor pemain real dan barca menurut versi okezone.com
F: Pedro dan Marcelo (daylife)
MADRID – Barcelona memastikan kemenangan 2-0 atas Real Madrid pada leg pertama semifinal Liga Champions di Santiago Bernabeu, Kamis (28/4/2011). Lionel Messi memborong dua gol kemenangan Barca, dan berikut adalah rapor pemain kedua tim.UEFA Champions League 2006-2007

Real Madrid:
Iker Casillas 6,5

Manchester United Vs. Schalke 04: UEFA Champions League Preview By Kevin McCauley

after wins in primier league manchester optimize for winner form schalke, because schalke after get the loses, but the games ball is circle man....who is review today this artickle from http://www.sbnation.com

Manchester United are heavy favorites against Schalke, but there's no way Alex Ferguson is looking past a team that handily defeated Inter Milan.
* Schalke 04 vs Manchester United - Rabu, 27 April 2011 (Veltins-Arena)

Follow @sbnation on Twitter, and Like SBNation.com on Facebook.

Apr 25, 2011 - Schalke 04 currently sit 10th in the Bundesliga. If you follow high-level professional football in Europe, you're probably well aware of that fact. In the build-up to the UEFA Champions League semi-final tie between Schalke and Manchester United, much has been made of Die Königsblauen's league position.

Despite the fact that they have performed poorly enough in the league that their manager, Felix Magath, was fired (though the board claimed it was for not consulting them on signing a youth player, puh-lease), Schalke have been fantastic so far in this competition. They advanced out of a group with Olympique Lyonnais and Benfica in first place, and defeated both Valencia and Inter Milan en route to the semi-finals.

By the standards of most people, all four of the above-listed teams are more talented than Schalke. Even with Klass-Jan Huntelaar and Raul up front and Jefferson Farfan on the right, the rest of the team has some deficiencies. The fact that they were able to defeat both Valencia and Inter Milan after selling Ivan Rakitic to Sevilla is astonishing. Jermaine Jones has been replaced with the cup tied Anthony Annan, so a carousel of teenagers has occupied the defensive midfield role. The defense is average, at best. Still, they keep on winning in Europe.

A lot of that is down to Manuel Neuer, who has refused to sign a new contract at Schalke. Various reports already have the goalkeeper headed to Bayern Munich in the offseason, and that would surprise precisely no one. Despite the fact that Schalke have advanced to the semi-finals of the most prestigious club competition in the world, Neuer is still a big fish in a small pond. It's unlikely that Schalke will do anything this great for a second time anytime soon. Meanwhile, Neuer is one of the best goalkeepers in the world. While the likes of Bayern Munich and Arsenal lack a great No. 1, Neuer's time at a club the size of Schalke was always going to be limited.
Schalke will likely line up in a 4-4-2, and Alex Ferguson will likely counter with the 4-4-2/4-4-1-1 hybrid he has been running, in which Wayne Rooney drops very deep into the midfield. Ferguson likes to play the industrious, defensively strong Park Ji-Sung in the Champions League, and even if this wasn't a regular occurrence, the presence of Farfan on the right would make Ferguson strongly consider playing Park on the left anyway.
The task they have in front of them on Tuesday is a very difficult one, but based on what we've seen from them so far, not an impossible one. It's fair to say that Manchester United are on a different level than the other great teams Schalke have faced so far - even Inter Milan - but the German side can't be dismissed as merely a speed bump on the way to glory for United.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are in the process of winning a Premier League title that has been practically gifted to them. They could magically lose their six point cushion at the top if they lose to both Arsenal and Chelsea while dropping points in one of their other games, but that seems incredibly unlikely. Though they may win the title on just barely over 80 points, United have actually been the model of consistency in this year's Premier League. This year's United team seems like the weakest in five or six years, and yet, they have a very good chance at a double.

Dimitar Berbatov is out for United, while both Huntelaar and Peer Kluge are questionable for Schalke. Based on his comments about taking Schalke seriously and his team's setup against Marseille and Chelsea in the previous two rounds of the competition, Ferguson is likely to take a "better safe than sorry" approach in Gelsenkirchen. It wouldn't be surprising to see Park and Antonio Valencia on the wings, with Nani rested. It would be fairly surprising to see either Paul Scholes or Ryan Giggs start in the middle. United should set up a team that is, above all else, difficult to break down.

The first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final between Manchester United and Schalke 04 takes place at 8:45 pm local time, which is 7:45 pm GMT and 2:45 pm ET, from the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. It can be seen on television on Fox Soccer Channel in the United States.

While Tottenham are boosted by having Bale back, Mourinho will also be able to call on his own star man after Cristiano Ronaldo was named in the Real squad.

The Portugal international missed the defeat to Sporting Gijon with a hamstring injury and had been expected to sit out the visit of Tottenham, but he came through training unscathed on Monday and Mourinho is set to take what he admits is a risk.

Gonzalo Higuain has also been included in the squad after making a successful return from back surgery at the weekend.

Marcelo (bruised rib) trained on Monday, and though Angel di María did not, the winger has been included in the squad along with Kaka (knee).

However, Karim Benzema is missing after the striker picked up a hamstring injury on international duty with France last week.

Midfield duo Fernando Gago and Pedro Leon are also unavailable through injury, while Raul Albiol and Sergio Canales have been left out of the squad.

How to protect your online identity

5 tips to book holiday online TNN | Apr 22, 2011, 11.32am IST

As soon as the schools shut down for the summer break, families eagerly start drawing up their holiday plans. In fact, everyone catches the travel bug during this season, and scouts for an escape from the grind of daily routine.

Some zip off on a selfdrive holiday, others opt for a more laid-back luxury tour while others comfortably settle in a wellness spa. The options are unlimited – you can now choose to stay in a villa or walk into a castle to live life king-size, albeit for a limited reign.

And, if you want something off the beaten track, you can go for wildlife trips or better still, plan gastronomic tours! Experiential travel is the flavour of the season, and thanks to various travel portals such as yatra-. com, makemytrip.com, cleartrip-. com, booking your holidays can be done at the click of the mouse.

According to the latest Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) report, online travel industry has grown at a rate of 81% in 2011 from 76% in 2009. But before you book your tickets, make sure you have checked all the facts, looked at the key points and are aware of the final price before you finalise your travel deal.

Do your homework
Today's traveller researches the destination s/he wishes to travel intensely before settling on a deal. You must first plan compare offers and deals. Keep in mind your expectations from the holiday, settle on the best deal available.

When booking flights, the traveller needs to get a total cost with the fees, surcharges and taxes included along with the airfare. You should always check for cash-back deals on online travel portals.

"Ideally, a traveller should check the airfares with all online travel agents such as cleartrip.com, makemytrip.com, yatra-. com etc. Then, the traveller should also check individual airline websites as some airlines have special roundtrip offers to make an informed decision," says Manoj Gursahani, managing director, Vamoose.in, a group buying travel portal.

Since the quality of your stay during the vacation can make or mar the entire travel experience, do a thorough check of the facilities offered at the hotel. "When it comes to accommodation, the traveller should pay attention to details like star facilities of the accommodation, cost inclusions, taxes ," adds Ezeego1.com's Singh.

Cash in on early-bird offers
"You pay 40% lesser on domestic travel if you book your tickets a month in advance. Similarly, you pay at least 25-30 % lower on international air travel. Hence, the key to the best travel deal is to plan early," says Noel Swain, EVP, supplier relations, Cleartrip.

The airfares follow a bucket system. Fewer seats fall in the category of lowest fares. As you approach closer to the travel date, the chances of getting these low cost seats get slimmer. Hence, you can get a ticket from Mumbai to Singapore at Rs. 14,000. The lowcost airlines offer tickets for as low as Rs. 7,500. The same ticket will cost you Rs. 24,000 if you book just 10 days before your travel date.

Scan the bundled offers
"A travel deal should include airfare, accommodation, at least one meal (most often breakfast), basic sightseeing and airport transfers. We have a deal that offers holidays, which are inclusive of air tickets, accommodation, sightseeing as per the itinerary.

The idea is to encourage travellers to buy multiple products from our site. We have seen travellers booking hotel rooms, car transfers , airline tickets etc. We also sell insurance online. By we ensure that the customer avails of best deals on the site.

There is an advantage for a customer as he ends up with a better bargain," says Neelu Singh, COO, Ezeego 1.com. Many portals work in conjunction with a number of partners like airline companies, hotels and banks.

"We offer bundled deals with our partners in terms of softer rates or cash-back offers with a particular airline or a particular credit card company /bank," says Swain. Every travel deal comes with a clause that says "Condtions Apply." It is in your interest to know those conditions so as to avoid last-minute nasty surprises.

Similarly, know the final price of the deal inclusive of taxes. Read through the inclusions and the exclusions of the package. The itinerary may not include some tourist destinations or activities which may be on your preference list.

For instance, if the travel deal to Mauritius does not include snorkelling, sailing or any water sports, you may have to shell out money from your own pocket for those activities. So, it's always advisable to make a list of such expenses to see the total cost for a fair comparison.

Before you finalise the deal
Package inclusions are a very important factor to note. The cost has to justify the inclusions. Next, you should draw your own travel plan without offering a package deal to find out the cost difference between the two options.

"Travellers already buy tickets online and are now comfortable booking their accommodation as well through the online channel. However, there is not too much action in dynamic packaging, which includes air travel, hotel and a car for local travel.

A traveller should cross-check the cost of such dynamically packaged deals vis-a-vis a personalised travel plan," says Gursahani. Also, be flexible with your dates. Portals such as cleartrip.com and yatra.com have a planning tool which shows the cheapest airfares for the entire month.

Use this tool to your advantage and choose the best dates possible. Then, you can book the accommodation as they have flat fares based on the traffic for that season.

Online vs offline agents
Booking online saves you time that you would spend travelling to an offline travel agent and negotiating a good deal. Also, some hotels tap the online channel to sell their last-minute surplus inventory or cancellations. "A prominent hotel in Goa was booked for three days for a wedding ceremony. But the wedding had to be postponed because of some death in the family.

Hence, the hotel advertised a crash deal offer on travel portals to get some business for those three days. Hence, customers can keep scanning the online portals as most airline companies and hotels tap online channels for best offers on account of higher visbility," adds Gursahani.

So, plan and book early. Know where every penny is spent before you take off for your dream holiday.

Microsoft CEO Ballmer's mail to employees TOI Tech | Apr 22, 2011, 12.15pm IST

NEW DELHI: In an e-mail sent to all its employees Thursday morning, Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer has announced that the company will be increasing the pay packages of all its employees and make changes in its review system.

Here's is a copy of the e-mail sent by Ballmer to Microsoft employees as published by The Seattle Times.

"There are many things that are true about Microsoft. We have big goals, big dreams and big aspirations for the future. We have great products and services. We have great people. We are competitive both with our products and in the way we attract and retain talent. For me, the most important factor is competition for talent, because I know our success comes from the people who work here.

Attracting and retaining great talent has at least three critical components: enabling and supporting people doing exciting and innovative work, creating a great environment where people can grow and be recognized, and providing the right overall compensation.

In the same way we continuously improve our products and services, we must also improve the ways we support and reward our talented people. In line with that, today we're announcing changes that will benefit our employees by sharpening the clarity of our performance review process and increasing compensation. These changes represent the most significant investment in overall compensation we have ever made.

Reviews. We are retiring our current system (commitment rating and contribution ranking) and moving to a single performance rating with clear rewards.

We are making this change so all employees see a clear, simple, and predictable link between their performance, their rating, and their compensation. Each rating at each level will now have set compensation tied to the rating.

These ratings will be based on the results you accomplished during the review period (assessed against your commitments), how you accomplished them, and your proven capability. Ratings will be a simple 1-5 system with relative performance being assessed across common peer groups.

Compensation. We are increasing our investment in compensation across the board.

The following changes will take place at review this September:

-For all employees, we will have merit increase opportunities aligned with local market dynamics and performance rating.

-We will make important increases in compensation for specific populations where the market has moved the most - early and mid-level R&D, mid-level company-wide and certain geographies.

-For all employees, we will shift a portion of stock award targets into base salary, providing more cash up front and obvious incremental employee value. Senior leaders will continue to have a large portion of their overall compensation in stock to ensure their compensation is heavily tied to the financial performance of the company.

-We are increasing funding for our bonus and stock awards so we can deliver 100% or more of target bonus and stock awards to 80% of our eligible employees. This is up from about 50% in prior years. The additional funding ensures our approach continues to support higher payouts to top performers.

The easiest way to understand these changes is to look at how you could be affected here.

There is a lot of information available about these changes on HRWeb and via conversations with your manager.

But I'll finish how I started. Our ability to deliver great value to our billions of customers is driven by the ideas and passions of our employees. Through our history, we have been THE place people came when they wanted to make a difference in the world through software, hardware and services.

This is as true today as it has been at any time in our history, and the changes we're rolling out today will help ensure Microsoft continues to be the place that top talent comes to change the world.

Thanks,
Steve"

Woman sneaks into Google, leaves 'angry' letter

A woman who is already accused of stalking one tech CEO apparently walked into Google's offices last month and left a letter and book for company co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page.
Mountain View police spokeswoman Liz Wylie confirmed Thursday that Vera Svechina, a 37-year-old San Francisco resident, followed a visually impaired Google worker through a door into a secured, employee-only area on March 18.
Svechina then made her way to an empty desk outside of one of the co-founder's offices, and left a letter and book written in Russian, Wylie said.
Business Insider described Svechina as an "amateur filmmaker and former stripper from Russia." Zynga founder Mark Pincus filed for a restraining order against her in February, according to Business Insider, after she allegedly threatened his wife and children, and visited his home.
Wylie did not know the title of the book left by Svechina.
"There was "nothing threatening" about the letter, but it was "angry in parts," she said
After an employee found the book and letter, Google security reviewed its surveillance tapes and found images of Svechina entering the building. Google notified Mountain View police of the incident, Wylie said, but none of Svechina's actions rose to the level of criminal activity and no charges were filed against her.
"It's just reporting it, making sure we're aware of it," Wylie said.

the past. She was detained last May after she came to police headquarters and asked to file a complaint against Google.
"She thought they were inside her head," Wylie said.
Police determined she was a threat to herself and took her to a hospital for a 72-hour-hold.

* profit increase: 10-fold
* positive expectations

In first half year of BY 2010/11 (01.07.2010 - 31.12.2010), turnover as
well as profit again leveled up to the figures before the crisis. The group
finally managed the crisis achieving an increase in turnover of 40% i.e.
21.9 million EUR.

FORTEC´s success is based on a considerable, more than 10-fold increase of
its net income after tax from 50.569 EUR to 593.470 EUR. The group´s total
result in first half year raised to 799.472 Euro which is more than above
average and impressively proves that the company gained back its power of
profitability.

Especially in the section of power supplies with 13.2 million EUR turnover

The new Sony MDR-DS6500 Wireless Headphones

Sony recently has introduced another set of quality headphones in the market. The new Sony MDR-DS6500 Wireless Headphones is quite a unique piece of headset that features a technology that will allow this pair of headphones to create an acoustic environment that seem to be produced by multi-channel speakers. And since it is wireless, it further adds to the user convenience that this headphones provide.
The new Sony MDR-DS6500 features Sony’s Virtuaphones Technology or VPT to allow the reproduction of a digital 7.1 channel sound using this wireless headset. This allows users to experience 3D 7.1 sound via their headphones. This is even possible when users may be listening to a 2 channel or 5.1 channel audio as the headset and its VPT Technology can recreate a virtual 7.1 channel soundstage.
This new headset also features wireless transmission that resists noise and interference, even when there are other devices at home. This means that the user may be able to wander around the room using their Sony MDR-DS6500 Headphones to listen. A 3 hour charge of the wireless headset is good for around 20 hours of continuous use. The new Sony MDR-DS6500 Wireless Headset is expected to be available around May of this year. Pricing has not yet been provided for it though.

Top Concern for iPad Users: Jailbreaking

Should Apple be concerned that so much of their user base wants to override their controls? The #1 thing iPad users are searching for these days is “iPad 2 jailbreak.” It’s also the #5 most searched-for term, when you rephrase it “jailbreak iPad 2.” Obviously, opening up iOS to get away from Apple’s app store and policies is at the top of many iPad users’ minds.

To determine this, we looked at the most searched-for terms by iPad users across the Chitika ad network over the past week. They also seem to be very interested in the upcoming British royal wedding: the #2 query was “Kate Middleton” (soon to be Princess of Wales), and #3 was “royal wedding.”

The following is a full list of the top 10 search queries by iPad users over the past week:

#1: iPad 2 Jailbreak
#2: Kate Middleton
#3: Royal Wedding
#4: Calendar 2011
#5: Jailbreak iPad 2
#6: Best iPad 2 Apps
#7: YouTube Downloader
#8: Pregnancy Week by Week
#9: Hulk Pictures
#10: Free Games for iPad

Jailbreaking, royal nuptials, and pregnancy – a nice combo of interest for iPad users.Top Concern for iPad Users: Jailbreaking

LG Optimus Pad Review and Specification.

LG Optimus Pad Review and Specification. LG has made a big song and dance in its press materials about how pleasurable the Optimus Pad is to hold in one hand – and in many ways it is.

LG Optimus Pad would pair 3D video capture with a glasses-free 3D display like the one on the Nintendo 3DS and LG's own forthcoming Optimus 3D handset. Could the LG Optimus Pad have a 3D display? That's what the rumours say, although they also predict a £250 price tag. One or the other is possible, but not both. 3D or no 3D there's a dual-core Tegra 2 and an 8.9" display. On-board memory is provided by 1GB of RAM, while our test unit came with 32GB internal flash storage.

LG Optimus Pad is an 8.9-inch tablet which means it sits between the 7-inch tablets like the BlackBerry Playbook and the 9.7-inch iPad 2. The idea is that this size gives the best of both worlds, balancing a nice, portable size with a screen big enough to watch movies on.

However, that turned out not to be the case. What we have here is a Tegra 2-powered Android 3.0 honeycomb tablet with dual 5MP rear-firing cameras for 3D video capture. The display is not 3D compatible in any way – it's a standard 8.9-inch LCD capacitive touchscreen with a 15:9 aspect ratio and 1280 x 768 WXGA resolution.

Website Optimization: First Link Priority

Website Optimization: First Link Priority
Written by: Ben Stickland
Today I want to show you an easy way to solve a common problem that causes many sites to fail to rank as well as they should.
The problem is that web developers are unaware of the principle of First Link Priority. The bad news is that many sites, especially those with a large number of pages, don’t get the rankings they should because they don’t handle first link priority properly.
The good news is that once you’re aware of the problem, it’s very easy to fix and avoid in the future.
First Link Prioritisation occurs when Google looks at a webpage and analyses its outbound links.
The First Link Priority rule states that when a page links more than once to the same target page, Google will completely ignore all links after the first, often with negative SEO consequences.
Take a look at this example diagram below.

In our example, Page A links to Page B twice. The first link is a graphical link, (in this case a banner image at the top of the page), whilst the second link is in the navigation bar and is a keyword-rich link with optimised anchor text.
The second link is put there for SEO value, and is what we want Google to see, (the anchor text in the link infers meaning), however, Google will completely ignore it. Instead Google only sees the graphical link (which contains no anchor text). The keyword rich link is of no value
(And no, for the curious, putting an “Alt” tag on the image link won’t serve as a substitute to anchor text).
The result is that the target page gets the PageRank “juice” passed to it, but not anchor text relevance, which is a valuable source of optimisation, so rankings suffer.
Now, at this point, I should clarify that when Google evaluates the links pointing to a page, it will count links from any page in its index, including both links from other pages on your website (internal links) and links from pages around the Internet at large (external links).

The links you get from around the Internet are often harder to control and in most cases don’t repeat on a page (so first link priority doesn’t become an issue). But, it’s actually very common within a web page to link to a target page twice, so generally, First Link priority problems occur within your website. This is great, because internal linking structure is pretty easy to control.
This video shows two very common examples of sites breaking the first link priority; and how to use a free FireFox plugin to identify the problem . Solving this problem is surprisingly simple, and there are several ways you can go about it.
In the video below I will take you through the two step process of eliminating First Link Priority issues:
1. Identifying pages with the issue
2. Applying the simple fix
If you want to use the simple code templates the video mentions, you can find them here:
First Link Priority Templates (Personally I just use the first method, but Aaron, our CSS guru wanted to show off and give a few options. For technical readers, .htaccess redirects can also do the job)
By becoming familiar with First Link Priority and implementing the simple solution across your sites you can potentially benefit from a large chunk of previously untapped SEO value.
Cheers, Ben
P.S. To give appropriate credit, I didn’t discover this, but learned it from the Godfather of SEO, Leslie Rohde
P.P.S. Yes, I’m a geek, but fixing this problem is normally very easy. We’ve seen big wins on home page or theme keywords. Imagine a 1000 page website where every page in the site links to home using a banner. That’s 1000 partially wasted links that can be fixed with a simple template update. If you’ve got a big site and can see First Link Priority problems, please implement a fix, let the site re-index and drop me a note in the comments to let me know how you went, hey?Website Optimization: First Link Priority

REAL MADRID TUNJUKAN TARINGNYA THE WINNING TEAM AFTER vs barcelona 1 ; 0 in copa del rey

cristiano ronaldo with golden goals in copa del rey
with score 1 : 0

Barcelona vs real madrid 0 : 1

Barcelona mendominasi permainan sejak awal. Namun, selama babak pertama, mereka kesulitan mengalirkan serangan sampai tuntas. Nyaris tanpa peluang, mereka bahkan beberapa kali terancam kebobolan.

Susunan pemain Madrid: Iker Casillas; Ricardo Carvalho, Pepe, Sergio Ramos, Alvaro Arbeloa, Marcelo; Xabi Alonso, Cristiano Ronaldo, Mesut Oezil (Emmanuel Adebayor 70), Sami Khedira (Esteban Granero Molina 104), Angel Di Maria

Barcelona: Jose Manuel Pinto; Dani Alves, Gerard Pique, Adriano; Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Javier Mascherano, Sergio Busquets (Seydou Keita 108); David Villa (Ibrahim Afellay 106), Lionel Messi, Pedro

History AC MILAN

The first headquarters were established at the 'Fiaschetteria Toscana' on Via Berchet in Milan, back in 1899. From that moment on the glorious history of Milan was born as the club went on to write its name in football's record books to become, especially over the last 15 years, one of the most famous and successful teams in the world.

The Rossoneri history is studded with legendary names of men who have made a major contribution to the club's development, be they presidents, coaches or players. The first president was a British expatriate, Alfred Edwards, who oversaw the club's first title - a mere two years after its foundation. The president with the most victories is Silvio Berlusconi who has taken Milan to the pinnacle of the world game since taking control in 1986.

A great team needs a great coach and Milan have certainly had their fair share of the richest talent around. The likes of Gipo Viani, Nereo Rocco and Nils Liedholm were the early masters and they were followed by Arrigo Sacchi and Fabio Capello who took tactics and team strategy to a new level, which heralded much of what we can term as the modern approach to the game. Along the way, each and everyone of them also made sure their teams played spectacular football.

The ushering in of the Berlusconi era first saw Sacchi and then Capello win numerous trophies. Sacchi won back to back European Cups with a team considered to have been one of the greatest teams in history, also claiming a Serie A title, two Intercontinental and European Super Cups. Capello followed that with four league titles, one European Cup and one European Super Cup. Alberto Zaccheroni kept the rich tradition going as he led the team to a league title in his first year before Fatih Terim took over for a short time and then passed the reins on to Carlo Ancelotti whose management skills have brought Milan back to top spot in Italy and throughout Europe.
1899/1929

On December 16, 1899 Milan Foot-Ball and Cricket Club was officially formed, but the first time Milan's name appeared publicly was on Monday, December 18 in an article by the Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper. The original headquarters were initially in the Fiaschetteria Toscana in Via Berchet in Milan and President Alfred Ormonde Edwards enrolled the team in the Italian Football Federation the following January.

The team played just one game during their first season, against Torino, and despite a defeat Milan lifted their first Trophy, the 'King's Medal', presented by King Umberto I.

In 1900/01, Milan won their first national title and their second King's Medal, which they went on to win again the following season. Over the years, Kiplin's team had widespread success and Milan became the most popular team in the Lombardy region, winning the prestigious 'Palla Dapples' for three successive seasons (1904/05 - 1905/06 - 1906/07), even though they failed to make in-roads in the Championship: the second title failed to arrive until the 1905/06 season and the third was won the following year.

The leading player was Louis Van Hege, a great goalscorer with an extraordinary average of 1.1 goals per game. In the 1914/15 season, the Championship was halted before the end of the year due to the outbreak of World War I, and it only started again in 1919. After several changes in the management structure, Pietro Pirelli was appointed as the new President. He held this role for almost twenty years, during which time the San Siro Stadium was inaugurated.
1929/1949

The 1920s are a period of consolidation for the Rossoneri with the team not making a major breakthrough on the pitch.

The club changes its name from Milan F.C. to Milan Associazione Sportiva, and following a number of changes in the top management, Umberto Trabattoni becomes president in 1940. It is a position he will hold until 1954. The team goes through a period of highs and lows but usually finishes the season in mid-table and rarely ends up in one of the top four places..

World War II puts an end to football until the 1946-47 season when the championship returns with each side playing each other just once. Milan manage to finish fourth behind the great Torino, Juventus and Modena. Over the next two seasons there is something of a rebirth as the team finishes in second and third place, with Torino crowned champions on both occasions.
1949/1955

The arrival of Gunnar Nordhal marked the beginning of a new era for a Rossoneri side that had for too many years been considered also-rans when it came to the league title. Apart from Nordhal, who was the league's top-scorer with 35 goals in the 1949/50 campaign, two other Swedes joined the team: Nils Liedholm and Gunnar Gren. All three, along with goalkeeper Buffon, were the reinforcements the side needed.

Milan won its fourth title in the 1950/51 season and crowned a historical year by adding the Latin Cup.

Success kept coming and Nordahl was the league's leading goalscorer for three consecutive seasons, 1952/53, 1953/54 and 1954/55. In his last season, the captain fittingly led the Rossoneri to another title.

In 1954, Juan Alberto Schiaffino, nicknamed "Pepe", was bought from Penarol and became one of the leading players in the team for years to come.
1955/1960

The 1955/56 season saw Milan take part in the first edition of the Champions Cup where they were defeated by eventual winners Real Madrid in the semi-finals, but did lift the Latin Cup for the second time when they came out 3-1 winners against Athletic Bilbao in the final.

With the arrival of new coach Gipo Viani to take charge of the team, Milan won the league title in the 1956/57 season, but the real surprise of the campaign was striker Gastone Bean, who scored 17 goals. A year later, the side became even more competitive when Josè Altafini joined the team: the Brazilian won over the fans with his skills and speed, and together with the "old" captain Liedholm, Cesare Maldini and "Pepe" Schiaffino, the unforgettable playmaker in midfield, Milan won the title at the end of an exciting head-to-head with Fiorentina.

Schiaffino, one of the few players who deserves the title of true champion, played out his final season in a Milan side that failed to set the campaign alight, but at least the Rossoneri overcame city rivals Inter 5-3 in the spring derby, with Altafini scoring four goals.
1960/1970

While the previous years had been marked by foreign players (Gre-No-Li, Schiaffino-Altafini) leading the way, between 1960 and 1970, Italian players would not only take over as protagonists in the club's history but come to prominence in the world game and gain fame at an international level. From the Rome 1960 Olympic side arrived players such as Trapattoni, Trebbi, Alfieri and Noletti along with a young boy named Gianni Rivera who played his first game for the club when he was only 17 against Alessandria, his previous team, in a 5-3 win for Milan. The Rossoneri were in the title race right down to the wire but two defeats in the last two games, against Bari and Fiorentina, gave them only a runners-up spot.

When Nils Liedholm left, 'Paròn' Nereo Rocco arrived as the new coach to herald a new era, marked by success both at home and abroad. The first trophy was the league title in the 1961-62 season, but the most exciting and memorable success was the first European Cup. The final against Benfica, played at Wembley Stadium on May 22, 1963, was a fascinating match: Milan raised the cup after defeating the Portuguese side 2-1 (Altafini scored twice for Milan and Eusebio scored for Benfica). The iconic image of captain Cesare Maldini raising the cup together with Nereo Rocco is still imprinted in the memory of all Rossoneri supporters.

Milan were unable to repeat their success in the Intercontinental Cup, where Milan lost the decisive match 1-0 at the Maracanà Stadium against Santos. At the end of the season, president Andrea Rizzoli left the club after nine years of great successes including four league titles, one Latin Cup and the prestigious European Cup. He is remembered not only for his sporting achievements, but also for establishing the training centre of Milanello which would become an important asset down through the years.

After a number of disappointing seasons where the team played well below their potential, Milan returned to the top of the table in the 1967-68 season, winning their ninth league title and the prestige of the club grew further with the victory of the European Cup Winners' Cup, the first in Milan's history. Having been crowned champions meant a return to the European Cup the following season and the Rivera-Prati partnership turned on the style in the final at the Bernabeu stadium where they defeated Dutch side Ajax, which included a young Johan Cruijff, 4-1. Milan goalkeeper Fabio Cudicini had already earned the nickname 'The Black Spider' following his exploits in keeping Manchester United at bay in the semi-final. Milan were also finally crowned World Champions after a 3-0 win at the San Siro was followed by a 2-0 defeat at the Bombonera Stadium in Buenos Aires against Estudiantes. The class and style of Gianni Rivera earned the midfield playmaker the Golden Ball for the European Footballer of the Year in 1969, earning this wonderful tribute: 'in a barren world of football, Rivera is the only one to possess a sense of poetry.'
1970/1985

One of the darkest periods of Milan's history that left the club with little to celebrate. The only bright spot came when the team were bestowed the honour of wearing 'the Star' on their jerseys after winning a 10th league title, in 1979. The team also lifted the Italian Cup on three occasions along with one European Cup Winners’ Cup.

The Italian champions were coached by Nils Liedholm, who gave a debut to a young player who would go on to captain the side and become one of the best defenders in the world: Franco Baresi. The great Franco played his first competitive game for Milan on April 23, 1978 in a 2-1 victory at Verona.

These years also saw numerous coaches come and go and the retirement of the legendary midfield general Gianni Rivera who moved on to take a position as club vice-president.

The first eight years of the 1980s saw a decline in the previous high standards, with the team playing two seasons in Serie B. However, it was not all bad news as Paolo Maldini stepped onto the football stage when he made his debut on January 20, 1985 in a 1-1 draw at Udinese. Paolo, of course, would go on to follow in Baresi's footsteps and captain the side to success both at home and abroad.
1985/2007

After achieving success in previous seasons, Nils Liedholm was reinstated as coach. However, results did not improve in either the league or in cup competitions. The club had arrived at a point where a major overhaul was required and on March 24, 1986, Silvio Berlusconi was named Milan's 21st president.

The new president decided to radically reinforce the team and made the decision to move into the transfer market. In the 1986/78 season, the likes of Roberto Donadoni, Dario Bonetti, Giuseppe Galderisi, Daniele Massaro and Giovanni Galli were signed to join English stars Mark Hateley and Ray Wilkins. It would take the new arrivals time to gel but Milan managed to qualify for the UEFA Cup thanks to a play-off win over Sampdoria, with Massaro scoring the only goal of the game in extra-time.

The 1978/89 season saw the arrival of Arrigo Sacchi. The new coach was an exponent of zonal marking, total football, along with pressure and speed on opponents when they had possession. Along with the arrival of Dutch stars Marco Van Basten and Ruud Gullit, the team would enter a new and exciting era that would transform the game not only in Italy but throughout the world. Youth team player Alessandro Costacurta was also promoted to the first-team squad and Milan got down to turning the season into one of those incredible moments. Despite some adverse off-field penalties, including losing a match 2-0 against Roma due to a sporting arbitration decision, the team fought-back and went head-to-head with Diego Maradona's Napoli at the top of the table. A 3-2 win at Napoli's San Paolo stadium on May 18, 1988 gave Milan its 11th league title and the first of the Berlusconi era.

The Dutch pair of Gullit and Van Basten were joined by fellow-countryman, Frank Rijkaard to form another new trio from the same country much as Gunnar Nordhal, Nils Liedholm and Gunnar Gren - the 'Gre-No-Li' - had done back in the 1950s. From that point on, it was success after success. In the 1988/89 season, Milan ruled Europe, lifting the Champions Cup after knocking out Vitocha, Red Star Belgrade, Werder Brema and then Real Madrid in the semi-finals to reach the final against Steaua Bucarest. Over 100,000 spectators filled Barcelona's Nou Camp stadium to watch Milan run out 4-0 winners. With Sacchi in charge, the team won a league title, two Champions Cups, two Intercontinental Cups, two European Super Cups and one Italian League Super Cup.

Former Milan midfielder Fabio Capello replaced Sacchi at the start of the 1992/93 season but the team continued to dominate both at home and abroad, winning four league titles (three consecutively), three Italian League Super Cups, one Champions Cup (won in the unforgettable final against favourites Barcelona) and one European Super Cup.

The period between 1986 and 1996 was without a doubt the most prolific period, not only in terms of the number of trophies won, but in the excellent performances and exciting style of play. "The Immortals" and "The Invincibles", as they were known, took the game to new heights but the late '90s were not as positive as the beginning of the decade had been. The club alternated between a succession of coaches (Tabarez, then Sacchi and Capello again) but with the arrival of Alberto Zaccheroni in 1999, Milan won its 16th league title in the same season as the club's centenary celebrations.

The rest of Milan's history takes us up until the present period, with Carlo Ancelotti taking over from Fatih Terim, and coincides with the team winning the Champions League in 2003 when they defeated Italian rivals Juventus in the final. Milan also lifted the Italian Cup and the European Super Cup that same year.

The league title returned to the club's Via Turati headquarters at the end of the 2003/04 season for what was the 17th time and the team started the following season by winning the Italian League Super Cup on August 21. However, the 2004/05 season was to leave a bitter taste in the mouth, and despite some excellent performances, the team was unable to attain the heights of the previous campaign. The 2006/2007 season instead was one of excellent work in terms of effort, courage and success on the pitch. Milan were given little chance following the penalisation handed out by the sporting judges at the start of the season but the players and coaching staff 'pulled up their sleeves' to turn events around in an amazing way. The players were called back early from their summer holidays, with some of them having just won the World Cup. The squad gathered at Milanello, united and determined, and they qualified for the group phase of the Champions League thanks to a two-legged win over Red Star Belgrade in the preliminary round. Milan also started well in the league but paid for their lack of pre-season preparation as the year wore on. However, some warm-weather training in Malta during the winter break revitalised the team. Carlo Ancelotti's players were in excellent form going into the final stages of the season, as they centred their objectives on fourth place in the league and the Champions League. With fourth place secured, the final in Athens confirmed the strength of character of the team as it overcame the injustice, envy and misfortune it was forced to endure.

One of the last conquered trophies is the European Supercup won on 31st August 2007 in Montecarlo in the final played against Seville, the Uefa Cup title holder: a match played without enthusiasm due to the premature death of the Andalusian player Antonio Puerta. However, another important appointment is scheduled for the Rossoneri in the 2007/2008 season: the difficult trip to Japan to win the FIFA Club World Cup, the most prestigious intercontinental trophy a Club can long for. Milan left Italy to Yokohama ready to face this nth challenge with one more motivation: winning the trophy would mean becoming the most successful Club in the world with the highest number of international trophies conquered and therefore beating Argentine Boca Juniors. After winning the semi-final against Urawa Red Diamonds Ancelotti’s men started concentrated and determined the final tie against Boca. The “world derby” was staged: the Rossoneri’s performance was practically perfect, decisively spectacular and the final result, 4-2 for them, crowned Milan as the most successful Club in the world. The city of Milan and all Milan’s fans celebrated together with the players this prestigious goal achieved thanks to the strength of a fantastic group capable of offering very special moments.

Over the last few seasons the Rossoneri, four-times semi-finalists of the top European competition in five years, have certainly reaffirmed themselves as key players in the national and international scenarios, and are prepared for new achievements supported by the enthusiasm of their numerous fans In Italy and abroad, and by over one hundred year tradition of emotions and successes.

Massimiliano Allegri took over coaching duties from Leonardo for the 2010-2011 season and can count on a stellar attacking department including Pato and Inzaghi as well as new signings Ibrahimovic, Robinho and Cassano.
