The UEFA Champions League’s best XI PLAYER,TEAM CHAMPION

The UEFA Champions League has reached its business end for another season. The big boys have qualified for the quarter finals, but there have been few surprises.

So here is a look at my best XI, who were instrumental in their teams’ success so far.

GOALKEEPER
Victor Valdez: Barcelona’s number one is one the most underrated goalkeepers in the world. His performances often get overshadowed by the big names that Barca have at the other end of the field.

Valdez has just conceded six goals in this season’s Champions League campaign and has been consistent, but at times he doesn’t get the credit he deserves.

DEFENDERS
Dani Alves: Brazil has a history of producing full backs of great quality and Alves is another name to that long list. Alves is probably the best right-back in the world right now.

Barca right-back is exceptional both while attacking and defending with great touch and sense of defending. He also has the ability to create goals and he also can find the back of the net from time to time.

Nemanja Vidic: The ever dependable Manchester United captain has been solid as a rock. The six-foot two-inch Serbian is a no nonsense defender. Vidic dominates forwards completely. He is Manchester United’s player of the season for me.

John Terry: Chelsea’s captain has not been his steady self this season, but the newly installed English captain still makes my team given what he bring to the team. His enthusiasm and will to win lifts the team up. The man is a born leader.

Marcelo Vieira: Marcelo has come off age this season. The Real Madrid left-back has made the position his own with some stellar performances this season. He might not be the best left-back in Europe defensively, but he definitely is the best going forward. He runs all day and terrorises his counterparts with the intelligent runs that he makes.

Marcelo has the ability to put great crosses in. This 22-year-old Brazilian also has a cultured left foot which he uses to great effect.

MIDFIELDERS
Mesut Ozil: One of the Germany’s World Cup stars has been brilliant for the Madrid giants in his debut season. Ozil is the highest assist maker in this season’s Champions League with five.

His ball distribution is impeccable. The German has the ability to breeze past defenders at will with his pace and skill. Ozil’s consistent performances are keeping one-time FIFA player of year winner Kaka on the bench, which is something to be proud off.

Andres Iniesta: The 26-year-old World Cup winner Barca midfielder has been consistently at his best this season. Iniesta has become one of the best dribblers of the ball, and finds ways to go past numerous defenders with ease.

His vision on the ball makes him the best creative midfielder in Europe right now.

Gareth Bale: Spurs left-back turned left-winger is having an exceptional first Champions League season. The Wales international has single-handedly taken Tottenham Hotspurs into the quarters.

His performance against Inter Milan at the San Siro is the best individual performance of the season so far.

Cristiano Ronaldo: The Portugal captain is someone without whom any best XI is incomplete. Ronaldo is having another great season. The star scores a heap of goals and also creates them for his teammates. The Real Madrid no.9 brings that X-factor to the team.

FORWARDS
Samuel Eto’o: The Inter Milan no.9 is heading the top scorers chart in the Champions League. The Cameroon national team captain was one of the key factors in Inter Milan’s treble winning campaign last season.

This season this lanky center forward is doing it again for the Nerazurri. His pace, sublime skill and quality finishing makes him the most dreaded forward in Europe.

Lionel Messi: Messi could make this list anytime anyone thinks of making one. The little Argentinian mesmerises defenders with his control, pace and deadly finishing. The FIFA player of the year has already notched up eight goals this season with two assist to his name as well. Messi has the quality to win any game on his own.

At times it looks like the ball is tied to his feet as he breezes past defenders

Germany host Australia tomorrow night in what should be a thoroughly entertaining international friendly at Borussia-Park in Mönchengladbach.

The hosts have a perfect record in their Euro 2012 qualification group so far, a run they maintained on Saturday with a convincing 4-0 victory over Kazakhstan.

Click here to watch Germany v Australia Now

Miroslav Klose and Thomas Müller grabbed two goals apiece to put the Germans eight points clear at the top of Group A and confidence is certainly high in the camp.

The clash with Australia presents a chance for Joachim Löw to experiment a bit more with his team though so he can see which players might be able to step up in a competitive fixture in the future.

Opponents Australia will look to prove their worth against strong European opposition and get some revenge for the 4-0 defeat to Germany in last year’s World Cup in South Africa.

Low’s men were a class apart that day, but Australia will be looking to build on an Asia Cup campaign where they finished runners-up after losing out to Japan in the Qatar final.

Looking at team news for this one, as mentioned Germany are likely to make a number of changes. Mesut Özil and Sami Khedira will be rested, paving the way for the likes of André Schürrle, Mats Hummels and Marcel Schmelzer to be heavily involved.

As for Australia, they will have to cope without Tim Cahill who is still recovering from a foot injury and will rely on Harry Kewell and Nikita Rukavytsya to trouble the German defence.

Stars unite to lift Japan

Football's restorative qualities were illustrated once again yesterday as Japan took on a J.League XI in a match to raise funds for victims of the country's devastating earthquake and tsunami. The contest ended 2-1 in favour of Alberto Zaccheroni's Samurai Blue, but it was the occasion rather than the outcome which struck a chord among those present at Osaka's Nagai Stadium and the large television audience.

With the 47,000-strong crowd chanting 'Nippon, Nippon', the game, featuring the country's most well-known past and present stars, got off to a good start when Gamba Osaka playmaker Yasuhito Endo opened the scoring for the national team on the quarter-hour mark. Stuttgart striker Shinji Okazaki made it 2-0 soon after, before the legendary Kazuyoshi Miura defied his 44-year-old legs to pull a goal back eight minutes from time.

Okazaki, who had himself experienced an earthquake that struck his hometown near Kobe in 1995, couldn't hide his emotions. "I am alive today because the people around me helped me out," said the 24-year-old. "Now it is time for me to return the support and help, and today's game marks the first step in giving back."

Despite finishing on the losing side, midfielder Kunimitsu Sekiguchi, who plays for Vegalta Sendai in one of the most affected areas of the country, was another happy to play a small role in restoring spirits. "It was March 24 when I first touched the ball this season. I couldn't run enough today but it was worth it to play this game."

Zaccheroni added: "The pitch was brimming with players with great technical quality and they put on a great game, but more than the game it was about everyone gathered here showing togetherness for the Japanese football family and the country as a whole. It was important that we could do something."
More than the game it was about everyone gathered here showing togetherness for the Japanese football family and the country as a whole. It was important that we could do something.
Alberto Zaccheroni

The match proved a testament to the Japan football fraternity's determination to defy the odds and play a role in restoring morale. A little less than a week after the 9.0-magnitude earthquake hit the country's north-east, the Japan Football Association (JFA) announced plans to stage a charity match. The concept received immediate support from players both domestically and dotted around the globe. Twelve overseas-based stars returned to form a full-strength national team - the first time thay have appeared on home soil since lifting the AFC Asian Cup in January.

A host of Europe-based players returned to their homeland including Inter Milan defender Yuto Nagatomo and Samurai Blue captain Makoto Hasebe, who took time out from his midfield duties for Wolfsburg. Among others making the most of the brief lull in club action were CSKA Moscow's Keisuke Honda and Schalke defender Atsuto Uchida.

For Zaccheroni, the match provided a chance to send the Japanese people a strong message that they are not alone. "I hope we can support the entire country and particularly the Tohoku district," added the former AC Milan coach. "I believe Japan can overcome the hardships, and the nation should be aware that we are with you closely and so is everybody across the world."

With some stadiums and facilities damaged, and of course many in the population facing hardship in the aftermath of the catastrophe, the country's football is facing a challenging period. The J.League is postponed until 23 April while question marks loom over the short-term plans of the national team following the cancellation of this week’s international matches.

Despite the daunting challenges ahead, Japan's Asian Cup hero, goalkeeper Eiji Kawashima, said that the key at the moment was to exhibit unity. "The fact that all of the Japanese people are gathering together has important meaning," remarked the 28-year-old, whose penalty saves helped his country into the continental decider. "We are saying we are Japanese and we can help each other.”

Paolo Maldini sent to trial over 'tax spying'

Retired former Italy and Milan defender Paolo Maldini was sent to trial on Monday charged with illegally asking an Italian tax agency official to do a tax check on another man, judicial sources said.

Maldini, who denies the accusations, is alleged to have committed the crime during a property deal in Tuscany.

A tax agency employee was arrested in 2009 during the police investigation.

Maldini, 42, retired from all soccer in 2009 after a glittering career and has yet to take another job having turned down coaching roles at Milan and Chelsea. (yahoo)

Sao Paulo veteran Rogerio Ceni

Sao Paulo veteran Rogerio Ceni has become the first ‘keeper on record to be recognised by both FIFA and the International Federation of Football History and Statistics to reach 100 career goals (second place Jose Chilavert has 98 goals) after whipping home a trademark free-kick against Corinthians yesterday.

Ceni has made more than 950 appearance for Sao Paulo, pitching his goal-scoring ratio at somewhere around the 1 in 10 mark – i.e, the kind of goals-to-game count that someone like Emile Heskey would kill a man in cold blood for.

Anyway, we’ve also managed to track down a video of all 100 of Ceni’s goals for the Tricolor – y’know, if you happen to fancy spending the next 11 minutes watching a gloved fellow poke home free-kick after penalty after free-kick.

Brazil 2-0 Scotland - as it happened! Two goals from Neymar, the first a brilliant finish, gave Brazil a comfortable victory over a limited Scotland

Jacob Steinberg

This afternoon we get to find out how old fashioned hustle and bustle fares against samba artistry. Just how will Ramires and Lucas Leiva cope with Charlie Adam? Got you!

This match won't be played in Rio and nor will it be played in Edinburgh. No, instead Brazil and Scotland are hot-footing it to the Emirates Stadium. Apparently Brazil's fans aren't too happy about their side jetting about all over Europe playing friendlies, although speaking as someone who's sat through far too many England friendlies, the further away these games are, the better. In any case, what better venue than Arsenal's ground than the purveyors of Joga Bonito, whatever the hell that is, and the owners of the aforementioned Charlie Adam? That said, Craig Levein has been known to take a leaf out of Fun Bobby's book and play a revolutionary 4-6-0 formation.

There are some nifty footballers playing for Scotland though. Aside from Adam, James McCarthur - not to be confused with his Wigan team-mate James McCarthy - and James Morrison are two smooth midfielders. Kenny Miller once scored a really important goal against Dani Alves. Alan Hutton is the Scottish Dani Alves. Gary Caldwell is always amusing to watch. Christophe Berra has an exotic name. For Brazil, there's no obvious stand-out player. The old fantasy isn't quite there; there's no Ronaldinho, no Kaka, no Ronaldo, no Adriano, no Robinho, not that this lot are exactly a bunch of chancers. David Luiz and Maicon are only on the bench after all. The one to watch out for today is Neymar, the prodigiously talented Santos youngster, Neymar, who West Ham pretended they wanted tried to sign in the summer.

Weather update: It's sunny and hot in north London, as if Brazil needed any more of an advantage.

Brazil (4-4-2): Julio Cesar; Alves, Lucio, Thiago Silva, Andre Santos; Jadson, Lucas, Ramires, Elano; Damiao, Neymar. Subs: Victor, Jefferson, Maicon, Luisao, David Luiz. Sandro, Henrique, Elias, Renato Augusto, Lucas, Jonas.

Scotland (4-5-1): McGregor; Hutton, Caldwell, Berra, Crainey; Morrison, Adam, Brown, McArthur, Whittaker; Miller.

Referee: England's Howard Webb.

On Twitter, TLDORC is imploring me to mention Elano. ELANO.

Craig Levein hasn't shaved. What a maverick. I toyed with the idea of letting my face hair run wild last week, but it was too itchy, so I cracked early on. The shame.

Ronaldo - the Ronaldo - has just made an appearance on the pitch to a fantastic reception. He was quite good. He's also now huge. He has no shame. What a man.

Fabio Capello's new formation allows Jack Wilshere the freedom to roam

Paul Hayward at the Millennium Stadium
An arena synonymous with thunderous Six Nations combat was the stage for a mismatch as Wales achieved something few international teams have managed in recent months: they made England look like masters of their fate.

Fabio Capello's side left a hostile Cardiff with a 2-0 victory – they now have three wins from four in Euro 2012 qualifying Group G – and fresh eulogies for the 19-year-old Jack Wilshere, their new playmaker, who drew this compliment from the England manager: "He is like a player who's 28 or 29 years old and has 40 caps."

This had the feel of a Premier League side outclassing a team from the Championship, but the English gains were many. The way the group is shaping up, the trip to Montenegro on 7 October will settle the leadership issue: always a big deal for a captaincy-obsessed nation. John Terry recovered the armband without fuss but Capello has still to find a suitable room in which to pacify Rio Ferdinand.

The chief gain from this one-sided contest was a greater range of tactical options for Capello, who used a weak Welsh side as a kind of blackboard. More experimentation is expected for Tuesday's Wembley friendly against Ghana with Capello saying he may make as many as 11 changes. Ashley Young, the Aston Villa winger apparently bound for a top-four Premier League club, left Wales as England's probable first-choice winger, and Wilshere, the country's best young midfielder, is no longer trapped in a defensive guard-dog role.

A penalty by Frank Lampard and Darren Bent's third goal in three internationals steadied another politics-ridden campaign. Lampard escaped the chop, Wilshere was freed from the holding role to display his rich talent in a more creative position and Wayne Rooney picked up a booking that will extend his summer holiday courtesy of a suspension for the Euro 2012 qualifier against Switzerland in June.

After a week in which the captaincy assumed a morbid hold on the English psyche – and Lampard looked likely to be dropped in favour of Scott Parker – Capello deployed a fluid system that returned Rooney to the left side of midfield and used Parker to grant Wilshere more attacking scope.

"I decided, after watching games Wales have played, for Parker and two midfielders." Capello said. "I decided for a new position for Rooney and Ashley Young. When we are defending they stay wide, when we have the ball Wayne comes in and it was a problem for Wales. This formation is really good because some players like Ashley Young are improving a lot."

None as fast as Wilshere, who made his England debut against Hungary in August, started in Copenhagen and is now a guaranteed pick, with two fine Champions League performances against Barcelona to sustain the hype. For him this was a bruising afternoon as Welsh boots snapped at his ankles.

England played 4-1-4-1 and 4-3-3, with Young excelling, Bent showing he can score regularly at this level, Parker looking assured against weak opposition and Wilshere exciting, as ever. This match will not linger in the memory but England were at least eager, organised and assured.

Only five of Wales's starting XI were Premier League registered — and one, Manchester City's Craig Bellamy, is on loan to Cardiff. Five were Championship players with Nottingham Forest (Chris Gunter), Norwich (Andrew Crofts), Swansea (Ashley Williams), Millwall (Steve Morison) and Leicester (Andy King). The 11th, Joe Ledley, is at Celtic.

This talent chasm was readily apparent as Wales were incarcerated in their own half as Aaron Ramsey, the youngest Wales captain in 135 years, at 20 years and 90 days, endeavoured to be the Welsh Wilshere. Ramsey, a sparkling talent, has much in common with his fellow Arsenal pup, but was too soon into his comeback from serious injury to be able to dominate a robust England midfield.

With Gareth Bale, Ramsey offers a talent base for Wales to build from, but the haste with which some absent fans condemned the new manager, Gary Speed, for a dire first-half performance suggests the real problem has not been recognised: a shortage of Premier League-calibre manpower, and an excess of passengers at this level.

After the break, when England eased off, Wales passed more fluently. But this was a rotten advert for the Home Internationals, which should be left in aspic, and not because England are too good to bother with their neighbours. These games serve no educational purpose and are rarely entertaining. They offer only a distillation of everything we already know about British football.

The feuding was good, though. The UN have intervened on flimsier grounds than those offered by Ashley Cole and Bellamy as they jabbered and jabbed their way through the first half-hour, until Bellamy, regrettably, switched flanks.

By then Lampard had scored from the penalty spot after James Collins had tripped Young, his Aston Villa team-mate, on six minutes, and Bent had swept in a Young cross nine minutes later to suggest a landslide might be coming. Wales froze. Their supporters passed the time by baiting the English. Not a word of God Save the Queen had been heard above local booing, which confirmed the futility of playing anthems should the Home Internationals ever lurch from their museum.

Scotland prepare to head to London for friendly with Brazil
Arsenal's Emirates Stadium set to host international in March
Scotland fans' behaviour in the capital to come under scrutiny

Scotland are in advanced talks about playing Brazil in an international friendly in London on Sunday 27 March, with Arsenal's Emirates Stadium a potential venue.

A visit to Dubai or Malaysia for a training camp was the original intention, but Scotland's preference now is to have a five-day spell in Spain before returning to play Brazil.

The friendly was discussed by the Scottish Football Association's board last Thursday. A contract with the agency looking to bring Brazil to Britain could be finalised in the next few days.

Argentina, then under the guidance of Diego Maradona, travelled to Hampden Park for a friendly in 2008. The Brazil encounter would be even more notable, though, by taking place in England.

The behaviour of Scottish supporters would be of particular interest, with the FA keen to stage an England v Scotland friendly at Wembley in 2013.

Sony, Nissan picking up the pieces

Sony, Nissan picking up the pieces
Major Japanese manufacturers prepare to restart plants idled by quake, tsunami
by BLOOMBERG
Updated 08:27 PM Mar 20, 2011
TOKYO — Sony and Nissan said they are preparing to resume production at some factories as Japanese manufacturers seek to recover from the strongest earthquake on record to jolt the world’s third-largest economy.

Sony plans to resume a plant that makes rechargeable batteries in Tochigi prefecture, northern Japan, from March 22, a spokesman said today. Nissan, Japan’s second-largest carmaker, said in a statement it will begin the resumption of operations at six factories tomorrow and some vehicle assembly from March 24.

Scores of Japanese companies have been forced to halt some operations after the March 11 earthquake and ensuing tsunami that hit Japan, claimed more than 8,000 lives. Manufacturers are also facing power outages, disruptions in the supply chain and a strong yen that is undermining the competitiveness of exports.

The battery plant would be Sony’s third factory to resume operations since the 9.0-magnitude earthquake resulted in the electronics maker halting 10 facilities. The company may restart a DVD-manufacturing plant in Ibaraki prefecture within a week, the spokesman said.

Sony, Japan’s largest exporter of consumer electronics, has reopened two other plants in the past week as it tries to minimise production shortfalls caused by the disaster. Four plants in Miyagi prefecture that make products ranging from Blu- ray discs to semiconductor lasers are still closed. Two plants in Fukushima prefecture for rechargeable batteries are also idled, he said.

Nissan’s facilities in Iwaki, located in the same prefecture where Tokyo Electric Power workers are battling to avert a nuclear meltdown, are not getting enough water, electricity and gas to operate, said a Nissan spokesman.

Toyota, the world’s largest carmaker, has said it will keep 21 car and components plants closed until March 22.

For Sony, a factory in Tagajo City, Miyagi, where more than 6,000 people live in evacuation centres, suffered the most damage among the company’s facilities, its spokesman said. The plant, which is not receiving any power, is partially covered with rubble and mud, he said.

Like other Japanese businesses, Sony is experiencing blackouts, transportation slowdowns, shortages of materials and suppliers unable to make shipments, Chairman and chief executive officer Howard Stringer wrote in an op-ed column published in the Wall Street Journal on March 18. The company is beginning to recover from the "profound psychic and physical shock to our bodies and our businesses," he wrote.

To Kill A Mockingbird (1962) - B&W - 130 min

To Kill A Mockingbird is a classic American film, based on Harper Lee's novel, Horton Foote's screenplay is amazing - and Gregory Peck's performance as Atticus Finch was nothing short of stunning. The story is told through the eyes of Jean Louise Finch, Scout to her friends, as she recalls this tumultuous period many years later. Mary Badham's performance as Scout is flawless. She was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role but lost to Patty Duke for her role as Helen Keller in The Miracle Worker. Had she won, she would have been the youngest person to win this award. 1962 was one of the best years in the history of film. I am convinced this film would have won best picture - but it happened to come out the same year as David Lean's masterpiece, Lawrence of Arabia, with Peter O'Toole. How good was 1962 you ask? On top of those two epic films - you had Mutiny on the Bounty. The Miracle Worker, Days of Wine and Roses, What Ever Happened to Baby Jane, Billy Budd, The Music Man, Birdman of Alcatraz. The Manchurian Candidate, and The Longest Day. Come on Hollywood... get to work and give us another 1962!

Podgorica Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Podgorica, Montenegro. Its name literally means Under the Gorica stadium, Gorica being a hill near the city.

Notable matches played at the stadium include:

* SFR Yugoslavia - Luxembourg 0:0 (ECQ, 27 October 1971) - att: 15,000
* SFR Yugoslavia - Wales 4:4 (ECQ, 15 December 1982) - att: 17,000
* FK Budućnost - Deportivo La Coruna 2:1 (Intertoto Cup, 9 July 2005) - att: 10,000
* Montenegro - Hungary 2:1 (first match of national team, 24 March 2007) - att: 13,000
* Montenegro - Italy 0:2 (WCQ, 28 March 2009) - att: 17,000

The stadium is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of FK Budućnost Podgorica. It also serves as a venue for games that other Montenegrin teams play in European competitions, as it is the only Montenegrin stadium that fulfills UEFA standards.

It is a frequent host of the Montenegro national football team, and its debut match against Hungary was played there.

The stadium's original capacity was about 15,000 spectators, which expanded to 17,000[1] with the additions of the north and south stands. An eastern stand is planned to be built soon, which will bring the stadium's capacity to over 20,000.

The pitch measures 105 x 70 meters, and had its grass completely changed in 2006.

The stadium was burned completely during the 1950s, but was later rebuilt.[citation needed]

The north stand is home for FK Budućnost Podgorica fans, the popular Varvari (Barbarians). It contains about a quarter of the stadium's total seating capacity. The other stands in the stadium are available to most other kinds of spectators. Varvari often account for a large percentage of the attendance at games featuring FK Budućnost. They are the largest ultras group in Montenegro.

There have been 258 goals (including eight own goals) scored in 95 games by 150 different players (Up to and including the games on March 25th, 2011).

Qualifying play-offs

The play-off ties will be played over two legs, with the first legs on 11 and 12 November and the second legs on 15 November 2011. The four winners are found according to the standard rules for the knockout phase in European competitions, and the winners will qualify for the Euro 2012 tournament.

After confusion caused by the UEFA play-offs for 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying - which was originally to be an unseeded draw, but was seeded by FIFA in September 2009 - UEFA have announced that the draw for the play-offs will be seeded. The four runners-up with the best positions in the UEFA national team coefficient ranking system will be seeded and will play their second legs at home. Each nation's coefficient and ranking position for the draw and final Euro 2012 draw will be calculated per results up to and including 11 October 2011:[11]

* 40% of the average points per game earned in the UEFA Euro 2012 qualifying stage.
* 40% of the average points per game earned in the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying stage and final tournament.
* 20% of the average points per game earned in the UEFA Euro 2008 qualifying stage and final tournament.

France, Italy and FIFA World Cup™ finalists the Netherlands all picked up away successes today in qualifying matches for UEFA EURO 2012, while holders and world champions Spain also prospered thanks to new goal king David Villa.

France bagged a 2-0 win over tiny Luxembourg to continue their resurrection under new boss Laurent Blanc after a catastrophic FIFA World Cup in South Africa under predecessor Raymond Domenech. Defender Philippe Mexes rose high to nod in after 28 minutes and Yoann Gourcuff netted the clincher on 72 minutes.

Only some wayward finishing prevented a much healthier boost to French goal difference from materialising. They still lead opening day Group D conquerors Belarus by four points - though the Eastern Europeans have a game in hand - after posting a sixth win on the trot to leave the traumas of last summer a fading memory.
I'm delighted and I want to keep on in this vein.
Xavi on his 100th cap

Italy meanwhile thanked Brazilian-born Thiago Motta for a typically gritty 1-0 win in Slovenia, while Villa became Spain's all-time top marksman with a late brace - one from the penalty spot - to floor the Czechs 2-1 in Grenada after Jaroslav Plasil had broken the deadlock.

The Spaniards roared back and Villa claimed his 45th and 46th goals for La Furia Roja in quick succession to surpass Raul in the goalscoring charts. Raul scored his 44 goals in 102 matches, but Villa has outdone him in just 72 appearances. Spain, for whom Villa's Barcelona teammate Xavi won his 100th cap, are romping through Group I with four wins in as many matches for a six-point cushion over the Czechs.

Xavi, who praised the Czechs for giving as good as they got, told Spanish television: "It was a very tough match but we really fought hard in the second half." On winning his 100th cap he added: "I'm delighted and I want to keep on in this vein." The Barcelona star made his debut in 2000 in a loss to the Dutch, the side the Spanish beat to win the FIFA World Cup last summer.

Motta, in only his second game for the Italians, netted with 17 minutes remaining in Ljubljana, ensuring the Azzurri took charge of Group C. With Serbia coming from behind to edge out battling Northern Ireland 2-1 in Belgrade, unbeaten Italy are now six points clear at the top of Group C with half the qualification campaign behind them.

Serbs bounce back
Northern Ireland looked set to cause a stir at the Serbs' expense when Gareth McAuley headed the visitors into the lead from Chris Brunt's free-kick in the 15th minute for his second international goal. But Marko Pantelic levelled 20 minutes after the break and Zoran Tosic then scored a neat winner after a surging run by Milos Ninkovic with 16 minutes remaining at a practically empty Red Star Stadium. Serbia had to play the match behind closed doors after crowd trouble marred their game against Italy last year.

South Africa 2010 finalists the Netherlands are going well in Group E, and made it five wins out of five in outclassing second-place Hungary 4-0 in Budapest. Rafael van der Vaart bagged the opener after just eight minutes and Ibrahim Afellay made it 2-0 on the stroke of half-time before Dirk Kuyt and Robin van Persie wrapped up a one-sided affair.

Belgium were another side who pulled out a win on their travels with a 2-0 success at Austria in Group A, where Germany are five points clear ahead of Saturday's home banker against Kazakhstan. Axel Witsel scored both the Red Devils' goals as the Belgians went joint second with the Austrians.

Joining Germany in action Saturday are Fabio Capello's England, who travel to Wales looking to overhaul Montenegro in Group G.

Apple says that iPad 2 is in great demand

Apple officials are saying that the demand for the new iPad2 is amazing to say the least. There were long lines reported when the product was debuted at 5 p.m. last Friday night, with many people seemingly wanting to be first to own it.
According to analysts, the new iPad 2 was sold out at a majority of the places it was being offered by the end of the first day of sales.  As of Sunday, Apple customers shopping at the online store found out they would have to wait three to four weeks to get an iPad 2, no matter what model they wanted to buy.
Apple says they are working hard to make sure that everyone who wants a new iPad 2 can get one as fast as possible.
Apple hasn’t said exactly what the number of iPad 2s were sold during the weekend. Wall St. Journal says they believe that between 400,000 and 600,000 units were sold in three days and some analysts say it could be even more. Wedbush Securities analysts have even said they think Apple sold nearly a million of the iPad 2s in the opening weekend.
The new iPad 2 was debuted at about 10,000 retail stores all over the U.S. If they did indeed sell one million units, each place would have had to sell about 100 units. This amount seems easy to achieve, but no one knows for sure if Apple even gave each store 100 to sell. All that’s known is that in some places, the available amounts sold out in 10 minutes.
A technology analyst said that no one expected it to be that crazy and that the iPad 2 was sold out in virtually every location it was sold at, with most gone by Saturday. Had the stores had more available, it’s thought many more could have been sold.
In a poll of 200 iPad 2 buyers, 70 percent were first time buyers, 51 percent already owned a Mac, and of the buyers 47 percent got the 3G version of the iPad 2 and 41 percent bought one with the 32 GB of storage.

Computing Business HP soon to Get Into the Cloud Computing Business Posted by Erik Kneeland

Hewlett-Packard has decided to get into the cloud-computing business and put in a bid against its rivals, Amazon and Google.
They announced their plans on Monday to put together a portfolio of cloud computing abilities from infrastructure to platform services. Part of that new endeavor will include an “open cloud marketplace” where developers will be able to develop apps for both users and companies.
Chief Executive Leo Apotheker  said that they were doing it because they could see that users were embracing the cloud computing experience and it was changing the way that everyone from individuals to small businesses and large enterprises were giving out and using their information technology nowadays.
After it bought the smart phone maker Palm and its WebOS last year, HP has said it will continue to expand and will but its WebOS into a larger range of products, speeding up its presence in the electronic world by bringing 100 million devices each year.
This is the only time Apotheker has announced publicly the HP strategies since he took over from Mark Hurd, who has been given credit with being the person who rebuilt HP into the world’s biggest computer maker and who quit last August after he was accused of sexual harassment and making false expense reports.
HP hasn’t announced a starting date for the cloud service. Only time will tell if HP can get software developers to come over to the new platform with a group of other rivals like Google and Amazon already in the picture.

Google Circle Rumor

There are rumors going around that Google will be releasing its own social network. Speculations have been seen around the web and Google Circle has also been the Trending Topic in Twitter. People are wondering if Google is working on its own social networking site and what its focus would be.

It is still undetermined if the new social networking site, if ever there really is one, would center on music, movies, or games. Google Circle or Google Me is said to be a Facebook killer. That might be wishing a lot from the supposed Google project since the company hasn’t have any luck on its social projects.

The Google Wave tried to be a Twitter rival but the company didn’t manage to get the masses hyped enough and last August Google gave up on the idea. So it is surprising to hear all the speculations about Google’s social project.

Three were lots of talks the Google will launch Google Circle at the SXSW in Austin, Texas. But the rumors were shut down by the company when it announced through Twitter that it will not launch anything in SXSW.

There are rumors that state that Google isn’t working on its own social networking site but it is working to make some of its products more social. Analysts say that Google should do something about Facebook dominance. Both companies don’t compete directly with each other but they do compete for user time and attention.

Result of the Draw UEFA Champions League 2010/2011

Holders FC Internazionale Milano will meet FC Schalke 04 in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals after Friday's draw, though the tie of the round is perhaps the all-English meeting between Chelsea FC and Manchester United FC.

Sir Alex Ferguson's team denied Chelsea a first European Champion Clubs' Cup in a dramatic penalty shoot-out in Moscow three years ago, and the London club will have a shot at revenge next month. While Chelsea are reigning English champions, United currently lead them by nine points in the Premier League and have history on their side in the competition having been crowned Europe's finest three times.

The Inter-Schalke encounter has fewer precedents, but having required a late goal to edge out FC Bayern München in the round of 16 the Nerazzurri will not take German opposition lightly. Older fans will need no reminder that the teams have met at the business end of a major European competition before, Schalke beating Inter in Italy in the 1997 UEFA Cup final on penalties.

Nine-time trophy winners Real Madrid CF will come up against Tottenham Hotspur FC in their first quarter-final since 2003/04, after Cristiano Ronaldo's wish that "maybe it would be better to come up against Barcelona further down the line" was granted.

The Spanish rivals could yet face off in the last four, however, as the winners of their tie will take on whichever side prevails between FC Barcelona and quarter-final debutants FC Shakhtar Donetsk.

10 Merek Laptop Terpopuler

Sebab itu, Vaio kerap disebut-sebut 'Mac of Windows'.

Cristiano Ronaldo: "I loved the support the crowd gave us"

"I stretched it, but I wanted to play; if Real Madrid fell so would I"
Realmadrid.com / Translation by Michael J. O'Donnell
Cristiano Ronaldo decided to play against Lyon to help the team win despite his recent injury. The Portuguese player said he "loved the support the crowd gave us."
"I stretched it, but what matters is that I didn't get injured. I wanted to play because, if Real madrid fell, I would too. The coach asked me if I felt fine and I told him I did. I talked to doctors and physiotherapists I trust and they said I wouldn't risk getting injured. Nevertheless, it was obvious I've missed 14 days."

"Benzema is in great form and proving he is a decisive player."

"Any opponent will be tough in the quarterfinals. We should respect all of them because they're in the quarterfinals for a reason."

"The derby will be difficult, but we are confident. I feel I will feel better for it."

"I'm sure things will go well for Abidal. He is suffering from something unrelated to football and we all support him."
